NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 brings back NBA arcade action! Featuring a huge roster of current and former NBA players, the sequel to the smash hit takes street balling to a whole new level.
Online matchmaking has also been improved with dedicated servers, four-player games, three-point competitions, new playgrounds, and bespoke matches. The purpose of this post is to provide a more detailed review of NBA 2K Playgrounds 2. Let’s dive in.
The Gameplay
The gameplay itself is respectable but not outstanding. In addition to the fast-paced games played on the court, you can also choose many rules, like the match length and the time before the referee calls off an attack. Though perhaps not the most tactical play, many goals can be scored in two-on-two games.
Scores depend entirely on where you hit the button on a scale, so you might find it a little random. There are other aspects of controlling my players that you don’t like, namely the defense part.
Microtransactions are another option. At least none directly alter gameplay because they are all intended to be cosmetic changes. To begin with, this is a full-priced game, so paying 192 NOK for 16000 of one of the in-game currencies isn’t exactly micro.
Visual Representation
In terms of its characters, NBA 2K Playground 2 has an almost cartoon-like style. It’s certainly not a bad thing in and of itself, but it comes across as rushed and lacks flair. Additionally, all the players look the same.
On the other hand, the courts had a fairly nice appearance. Since each club utilizes a different arena, it surprised you how well it worked, even though it’s only a re-skin. In NBA 2K Playground 2, street courts such as a beach are also there.
Control System
First off, the control scheme in NBA 2K Playground 2 is quite basic but very effective. The fundamentals are simple to master, but it takes time to become familiar with the different button combinations. While you still need to master all the different combos, those who have done so have shown to be fairly skilled. You won’t enjoy the controlling because it appears to be very luck-based.
For instance, for your shot to have a chance of going into the basket when you fire, you need to hit “the green area.” Once you get the hang of it, you can see how doing something you’ve never done can be enjoyable.
Playback Value
The entire premise of NBA 2K Playground 2 is that you must play a lot to unlock additional players. Unfortunately, you will find the game pretty uninteresting after a little period. Yes, there are options like season mode, which can be helpful.
You could find the growth simply too slow, and the matches didn’t feel particularly original. You’ve been playing the game nonstop, yet you’ve only ever unlocked one bronze pack with fresh gamers. When we reviewed the game, we found the waiting periods too long, so it might be better if the online option was more active.
Is NBA 2K Playground 2 Worth It?
By putting less emphasis on stats, playbooks, and managing a team, this arcade game captures a lot of entertaining basketball action. Instead of playing a realistic simulation, NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 focuses on pure basketball fun.
The scene instantly reminds you of picking up a basketball on the street court with friends, but these guys are NBA legends who defy gravity. It’s as entertaining to see as it is to play because of the presentation’s vivid colors and comical flair.
In NBA 2K Playgrounds 2, there are tons of improvements over NBA 2K Playgrounds 1. By joining the 2K Games family, the roster has gotten a quality and quantity boost.
There are more than 400 players available for collection, and even more through downloadable roster updates. Unfortunately, fans might not be able to play their favorites right away. In-game purchases or virtual card packs are still good for players to enlist NBA stars.
Finding players you like and leveling them up to their maximum potential still takes work after you play a season. That grind isn’t too bad, though, because NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 is so much fun. Overall, the arcade action, outrageous aesthetic, and amusing personality will appeal to basketball fans of all ages.
It might be worth trying NBA 2K Playgrounds 2.
